The proposed project will enable better resection of tumors, hemorrhagic clots and other brain lesions with less damage to healthy brain tissue and critical brain structures. The effect on patients and society is enormous - patients will have longer survival and less impairment in their functional capacity following the surgical treatment. The society will benefit from a reduced hospitalization following the procedure and in the long term, reduced need for physical rehabilitation to patients, less disability payments - all translating to reduced healthcare cost to manage patients with brain tumors.
