Can we get a PR now?

Qualcomm says it’ll work with OEMs to build tethered AR/VR headsets for smartphones

https://venturebeat.com/2019/02/25/qualcomm-says-itll-work-with-oems-to-build-tethered-ar-vr-headsets-for-smartphones/

There seems to be a media blackout of Dr. CC's gound shaking talk at ARIA but I found this lady singing (sic) an aria to tide us over until the ban is lifted.

Alright, F-35 w/New Helmet w/eMagin displays on the Flight Deck and in the Twitter

like this market report because it has "BOOM" in the header

It should appear:

1.eMagin
2. Sony

3. Kopin

UA/Elbit want to speed certification for HUD/Skylens

‘The industry is focusing on, not only enhancing operations for rotorcraft for efficiencies, but more, now than ever, on safety, overall safety, getting the [helicopter] in and out of dangerous situations. With the heads-up technology that was really going to be a game changer on how you are getting STCs out in the market where these operators in [challenging] situations [find] it's really tough to see,’ he told Shephard.

I'll believe when and if LBS is in any NVGs with Thermal Capability, Dense Symbology, Can Network with RTA and Javelin, Field Tested and Subsidized by the DOD until then assuming HUD 3.0/Microsoft IVAS has a High Brightness DPD. Open to contradiction if some MVIS Mole can show otherwise.

The Army contract calls for some modifications to the Hololens device, specifically, the addition night vision and thermal sensing will enable a form of artificial night vision that optimally would detect with 90% accuracy a human-sized object 150 meters away with illumination just by starlight, and provide augmented overlays that will ultimately have to be readable across all lighting conditions. Also new would be health monitoring sensors to measure vital signs like breathing and readiness, monitor for concussions and offer hearing protection.
The head-worn device would specifically track weapons and allow soldiers to see simulated fire from their real weapons while offering training with weapons like Javelin missile systems in a completely simulated environment.

Collins Elbit Vision Systems celebrates delivery of 1,000th F-35 Helmet Mounted Display System

“This system is unique because it’s the only proven HMD system on the most advanced fighter in the world, but also because it’s continually evolving to meet the needs of the warfighter,” said Dave Schreck, vice president and general manager, Military Avionics and Helicopters for Collins Aerospace. “We’ve been able to make it lighter, enabling more pilots to use it, and the team is planning to bring additional color capabilities through the use of microdisplay technology. We continue to look broadly for innovative ways to improve situational awareness for the pilot and enhance F-35 mission accomplishment.”

Very good prospecting Frank. I don't think the Night Vision Directorate wants any spinning mirrors in their equipment. Just a hunch. Last sentence the capper.

It was announced in November that Microsoft was awarded $480 million to be the prime contractor for the IVAS program. We, however, are in contract with SOSSEC on behalf of NVESD, or the Night Vision Electronic Sensor Directorate, who will be supplying the cameras to Microsoft or their sub directly.
It's the Army's objective to incorporate head, body and weapon technology on individual soldiers in a single platform that they can use to fight, rehearse and train, providing increased lethality, mobility and situational - and the situational awareness necessary to achieve overmatch against our current and future adversaries. Digital night vision is a key part of this platform, and this win is the single largest contract award Intevac Photonics has ever received.
Our 2,300 camera modules will leverage the successful development work of our state-of-the-art, low-light level CMOS cameras accomplished over the past year, along with our next-generation ISIE 19 sensor currently under development.
If successful, the project volumes of digital night vision camera modules for the IVAS program will be in the hundreds of thousands of unit range. So it's beginning, digital night vision for the ground soldier.

BAE Phil does not say OLED. He doesn't need too. India.

Pretty confident there is a real source, can't remember where, some influencer, Valve indicated selling their headset as a Loss Leader. Like Microsoft donated Software and Apple computers to schools to capture minds, hearts and wallets.

they spin gold with those games and after development costs and smaller sundry costs it all hits the bottom line. Rev per employee off the charts.

Do you mean if YOU were familiar with the Microsoft Oculus Master Sargent?

“If you’re familiar with the Microsoft Oculus — that’s primarily the direction we’re going,” Krugh said. “In approximately 24 months we’re working directly with Microsoft to develop this program – it’s new technology, it’s artificial intelligence, machine learning – there’s a lot of people involved.”
The PEOS’s IVAS project encapsulates the Army’s continued foray into digitization and harnessing the blooming technology of augmented reality for training in what the Army calls STEs, or synthetic training environments.
Krugh said the further development of augmented reality can make planning and training more streamlined since possible mission environments can be constructed digitally, which can eliminate the need to travel or transport Soldiers for mission trainings.

Not reassured by someone saying they bought today at .81. Seriously, who cares?

I fluctuate between Lurker, Chouffe and MW. We were conditioned in the past by the lousy corporate governance at eMagin. Before Sculley the information, good or bad spread over Duchess Country like fast flowing lava.

The stock would sink like it was a torpedo amidship or shoot up, roman candle, for an unknown reason. Ah, those were the days. We didn't need any leaks everybody who knew anybody knew Olivier Prache had a stomach ache or the stupid Satella was on the blink. The Yahoo board became the Bitch & Moan Central for employees. Made no bones about it. Don't know what safeguards are in place now or the dire consequences for violating an NDA but times have changed. I agree Lurker that there is nothing to indicate that conditions have changed. They have been good about reporting untoward events. Why is the Market making Sausage now? It seems that the more we see glimmers through the clouds the harder the market wants to turn the crank on the meat grinder. US foundry making wafers. Intel at Session 40. Down payment from manufacturer The stupid red herring prospectus, medical vertical, military business, Analyst says "eMagin has go-to VR display". Read Frank's post at Investor Village on L3 CEO Kubasik talking the size and $$$ attached to ENVG-B. Looking at Army Magazine just arrived. ARES, the AR Sandbox is going to be everywhere and there is a soldier building a topographic map with Hololens. Progress on Synthetic Training Environment. The Defense Hawk in me worries that a big Program could be cancelled. Right there on the Cover is a Headline "No Turning Back" referencing a story on the Cross Functional Team and their rapid work on Modernization and Soldier Lethality. But eMagin investors are all Mets Fans, conditioned to expect the worst. Don's pithy post "When it happens, will we believe it?" (Licensing Deal) That's a hell of a good question. I intend to wait and find out. What a slog.

Great Point Frank...

but remember to the hoi polloi, Microsoft is "real", L3 is not. They simply don't care. They only pay attention to stuff that can be bought on-line and used for entertainment.
As stated on the official government website, the pilot will test the following applications of the headset:
  • High Resolution VR Headsets to improve environmental immersion.
  • Mixed Reality which will allow soldiers to see and interact with physical objects.
  • Avatar customisation replicating realistic facial features and body shapes allowing users to recognise their fellow soldiers.

so IVAS IS Hololens

The evidence trail is there indicating that Microsoft Hololens has been devloping AR Systems with SA Photonics for some years. Put "AITT" in the search box of my copy and paste operation and you can pretty much draw a straight line from USMC TDG to TDK from SA Photonics AITT

to Hololens. Remember the new dictum? "We train as we fight". SA Photonics use eMagin displays exclusively. I still chuckle thinking of Rony Abovitz getting set up and shutdown by the Pentagon with their attempted Magic Leap into Defense World. SA Photonics has been funded by the DOD from 2002. Magic Leap since never. Long story short, Hololens MilSpec for Training and in the Field will employ eMagin displays. No question.
