I wish somebody who knew something about this market could shed some light on eMagin's participation at Display Week. There they are, dinky little display company shoulder to shoulder in a Booth lined up with all these "Touch" giants. Synaptics, 3M, ELO, Japan Display etc.

- We supplied to consumer and commercial customers our largest microdisplay design, the 2k x 2k full color RGB during 2017. We expect that this display design will expand our product offerings for the consumer and commercial marketplaces. In concert with this effort, we advanced a compact interface for the 2K × 2K microdisplay that we believe will facilitate the integration of the display into optical solutions. This hardware is targeted to be introduced to the market during the second quarter 2018.
Thank you Mr. Saltarelli
- We completed a Critical Design Review (CDR) in
October 2017 with a major aviation prime contractor for an OLED upgrade to a production helmet for a multi-service fixed wing aircraft. Additional displays and supporting hardware were delivered to the prime contractor inJanuary 2018 for pre-production testing. This program is anticipated to generate significant revenues beginning in the second half of 2018 as our OLED microdisplays continue to receive praise during flight testing. - We supplied to consumer and commercial customers our largest microdisplay design, the 2k x 2k full color RGB during 2017. - We delivered displays for the Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) phase of both the U.S. Army’s Enhanced Night Vision Goggle III (ENVG III) and Family of Weapon Sight-Individual (FWS-I) programs. We were awarded follow-on contracts worth over
$3 .7 million for the ENVG III and FWS-I programs. We also delivered displays for prototype systems for the FWS-Crew Served program to two defense prime contractors. - We received a multi-year
$1 .7 million order from a European military prime contractor to provide displays for see-through, head-mounted displays to support airborne and ground missions’ requirements. - We received a
$1 .5 million order to support the Light Weight Thermal Sight (LWTS) program with deliveries which began inDecember 2017 and continue through 2018. - We continued to support a major
U.S. Army helicopter helmet upgrade program to retrofit high brightness microdisplays into the current fielded helmet. Critical Design Review was completed in August of 2017 and Testing Readiness Review (TRR) was completed inDecember 2017 . Additional OLED display, taper, and lens assemblies were delivered for integration and testing inDecember 2017 . - We received a production order from a foreign aviation prime contractor to supply high brightness microdisplays to upgrade an existing helmet for fixed wing aircraft. Serious question Kopinistas. What's the workaround for the design of advanced OLED and Backplanes in the United States and Then Export Those to a State-Owned Entity on Mainland China?
We are also subject to federal International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR") laws which regulate the export of technical data and export of products to other nations which may use these products for military purposes. The failure to comply with present or future regulations could result in fines being imposed on us, suspension of production, or a cessation of operations.

My point is that Kopin shipped their products with military applicability to Mainland China.
It is true that China tries their best to appropriate Intellectual Product that can further there interests. I don't discount the possibility that China enters into Joint Ventures in order to acquire technology not otherwise available to them.Their interest now is technology with emphasis on military technology. Here are the products that Shenzen Oriscape sell. I draw your attention to Night Vision Goggles and Digital Night Vision. There is no DOD Auditor in China. There is no way to tell who is the end user in China. Sophisticated designs from Kopin in Westborough Mass could end up in a Digital NVG or the Cockpit of a Chengdu J-31. Shenzen Oriscape appears in Kopin's 10-k as a significant customer. There are no rank and file Chinese subjects hunting with Digital NV. The PLA has an established pipeline.

Sadly, The Elf Isn’t a Product While the Elf headset edges us ever closer to sci-fi’s vision of cyberspace, it’s important to remember that the Elf isn’t a product. The Elf headset is a tool for Kopin to demonstrate the power of their Lightning 2K OLED displays, especially to electronic companies who may be interested in incorporating them into their own headsets or electronics. This means that while you may never own an Elf headset, components like the optics or Lightning displays could be in your next VR rig -- maybe without you even knowing. Despite not being a commercial product, the Elf VR headset is an exciting indication of just how far the technology of virtual reality can still be pushed in terms of resolution and size. With such a realistic display and compact form factor, the Elf VR headset feels like it was pulled straight out of a science fiction film like Spielberg’s upcoming VR adventure, Ready Player One. Someday in the not-so-distant future, you could be viewing a hyper realistic cyberspace through a pair of Kopin’s Lightning OLED displays. http://pcll.com/Articles/Techsocket-VRKopin.html |
Yes, the described display shown at Ft. Belovir is eMagin's 2kx2k

- Pixel pitch: 9.3µm square (RGB striped subpixels)
- Luminance: 500 nits
Soldiers' situational awareness improved using micro-displays, augmented reality (David Fellowes is the co-inventor of the Army's & eMagin multi-varied display)and the guys says "hey can have I some of those for my Apaches?" "No problemo"
"If you've ever tried looking at your cellphone on a sunny day, it's really hard," he said. The increase in display brightness was such that Soldiers would now be able to see the tiny micro-display in sunlight.
Although the technology was being developed for dismounted Soldiers, other program managers took notice, he said. For example the program manager responsible for Apache helicopters wanted their pilots to have them for head-mounted displays. They are not yet fielded for the Apaches, but a contract for them has already been signed. Other program managers wanted them for night vision goggles and even for weapons sights, he added.
The next step, he said, was to develop an extremely high resolution, 2048-by-2048-pixel display in full color. That advancement came to fruition recently, and some of them were on display.
