- don't play hungry
- don't play full
- don't shake the base of the sensor
- don't drink booze, beer, sake, or wine before hand
- avoid disembodied head situations, in general i'm not a fan of the keyboard, mouse or controller movements
- don't play on a slow computer
- don't set the graphics settings too high
- do set the settings low enough to keep the graphics from droping below 90 FPS
- do move your head to look at stuff
- do use your hands to move, leap motion, etc...
- do play games where you are inside of a cockpit, somehow this feels better

A few thoughts...

"i'm tellin' ya Charley. I could have been a somebody (Golden I) instead of a nobody...I coulda been a... contendah" |
wasn't feeling the AR/VR wearables love flowing from Doctor Fan. He hyped it to the point of tedium in previous CC. Was it wishful thinking on my part as I listened? Trying to fight off the a small case of microdisplay schadenfreude. The drone market was #1 on the vertical agenda. Who knows how that will develop? OK, I just do not do see it as having a very large appeal. The Garmin Sports, that's sounds ok. Feels like my Garmin I ditched when I found Wayz is much better and Morgan Freeman tells you to look out for Potholes. When the Elbit Raptor appears serious cyclists I believe will be on that. As Sculley said others are "More a Notification device." It sounds to me like they alliance with Raytheon in TWS will carry over to FWS. Procurement approach is to play one off the other and keep both in the process in case the SMOD hits Fishkill or Taunton.
The other primary belongs to the company they will not name. Maybe split the Crew. Nothing in the Sniper as further distances require higher resolution, they will be OLED. They did that thing where knowing they have piece of the program and try to sell it as $100 Mill without caveat. Lot of emphasis on Whisper. Inching away from displays?
Intevac is a small company with no consumer aspirations. They seem happy with Digital Night Vision they sell to the Military.
John McCain and others are banging on the deciders to send a lot more Javelins to the Baltics, a solid recommendation. The Russians and observers are not convinced that the payload can penetrate the heavy-up armor of a T-90. Not sure the first one across the frontier wants to find out. In case they do I believe their Multimillion ruble tank will be a burning hulk from a $50k munition.
Seen the fellows many times in various places and they have NEVER confirmed anything to me. Maybe he found out from AMD. The evidence is pretty clear that AMD is the first one but the guy is always bleating about "Can you confirm?" makes a categorical statement without attribution. Rankles.
Where does this Kopin triumphalism come from?

VR @ SXSWedu: The BAD News about VR in Education... What's the matter Len, Don't You Think "Eaten by a Shark", "Die in a Plane Crash" and "Relive 9-11" are Educational?
- Nearly all of the VR sims I viewed struggled with granular, lower-resolution imagery; resolution far less sharp than students demand.
- Most of the VR sims I viewed demonstrated noticeable latency; and latency issues can lead to the distasteful “virtual reality sickness” phenomenon.
- I witnessed an over-dependence on spherical photography for content, or at least 'defined' as VR content.
- Nearly all of the VR sims I viewed were passive observational experiences (viewing), and not particularly interactive.
- In every single session, the presenter(s) grumbled about the need for more educational content. Clearly, there is not enough educational content available for critical mass adoption in schools and universities. Period.
- Not a single presenter I interviewed had a proper answer to address the vision issues associated with binocular viewing of stereo virtual reality experiences. One presenter naively suggested that the solution depended solely on improved VR content. (For my perspective on this concern, please reference my recent article, the Janus Incidence.)
- Nearly all VR presenters haled from university-level programs or the corporate world, not K-12.
Still? ...Still
Just played 30 min of @EVEValkyrie and feel like a need to lie down in a dark room. Nausea is still here with the consumer @Oculus.
