What did-in previous attempts at better than PVS-7's (20s, Land Warrior) is that they were fragile and they broke. They were treated like a standard piece of equipment, not babied. With their current reputation and wide acceptance, maybe, just maybe they'll treat them like their weapon.

Haven't heard anything untoward about other ENVGs so...well, keep em crossed.
