What does "since we've put it in place" mean?  Since many have been skeptical of JL's word machinations, since he's been put in place. it's probably reckless to identify "since we've put it in place" as a Past Participle. But on it's face that's what it is. It's a bit sad we're down to this level of parsing in an attempt to try to understand what's going on here but the Sphinx does not give up his secrets willingly.
