Guttag was never a proponent of LBS. Fair to say he has been a gadfly opposing Microvision and their Laser Scanning as an HMD solution. He doesn't cut them any slack here either.

He works for RAVn right? An AR company founded by Vets to design Hardware, Software that increase situational awareness for the Warfighter. Seems to me he might have an idea as to what works and what doesn't in an operational setting. Battery life of 2.5 hours, narrow operating temperature range. Can't use it over 104 F no lower tolerance stated, shutdowns with thermal overload.
I would add Microvision has had no interface with the Dept of Defense since 2004. The theory that it is being developed in the black is nonsense. Why would Mantech spend Millions to develop eMagin's High Brightness display for Aviators and Direct Patterned Display for the Dismounted Soldier if they were building a "Super LBS" display in a skunkworks somewhere. ENVG-B has the resolution to accommodate thermal vision, dense symbology, Blue Force Tracking, Video Streaming in brown-out conditions. 7.5 hours of Battery Life, rugged, sailed through all the Touchpoints and now is with the 1st ID in Korea. It's a sustaining myth for the Microvisionaires but it makes no sense. They need it I suppose to carry on. Anyway Guttag rips LBS a new on here.
