Just got to run my R&D HMD test app on a prototype 1920x1200x2 display set from eMagin. Completely distortion free across the entire view.

Me too! What a coincidence. RT @ID_AA_Carmack Just got to run my R&D HMD test app on a prototype 1920x1200x2 display set from eMagin.

@kmanmx mine was based on eMagin OLED microdisplays, theirs use Samsung OLED panels. Hard to get wide FOV with microdisplays.

So in light of the decision for Carmack and the idiot savant that a wide enough FOV was not attainable with microdisplays, we have eMagin CEO Sculley at Needham describing using an eMagin prototype HMD for gaming where the experience is in his words "immersive". New prism design, tiled displays, somethings gotta give.
