I don't know how they do it but they escape mention in a story like this. I am confident they would not even appear in a story titled: "How Bellevue is Becoming a Hub for Virtual Reality Technology Development"

This is a typically eNigmatic statement from the Oracle of Bellevue
"Don't scream, it's just me, Mark Zuckerberg" |
“This licensing agreement confirms that our immersive headset technology is unique in the VR market,” said
Does the statement "OLED microdisplays are the right choice" imply that the "unknown company" had previously made a wrong choice?" That statement seems to refer back to the "Unique" of the opening sentence. It could be read to indicate that the "unknown company" and its CHOICE to use microdisplays instead of large panel displays is authoritative enough to establish these devices as the benchmark, the most desirable for VR headset applications. If it is "wrong choice, right choice" than it leads back to Oculus, Oculus is struggling. Luckey's recent statement that new iterations of Oculus will be rolled out in suceeding generations like Cell Phones sounds to me like they know they are welded to a design that all but guarantees that a significant percentage of users will get sick using it. Another recent statement from Luckey "Please" designers "No Jump Scares".

VR sales data we can count on
If eMagin was to partner with one of the two available manufactures of high end graphics cards which company is more likely? NVIDIA with whom eMagin had a shaky partnership which ended badly (NVIDIA dropped driver support for the Z800 when they attempted to develop their own HMD) or AMD? (Engineering Director Chen and Lead Display guy Glen, pic above, that's right Chen and Glen at AMD both have been pictured demoing eMagin's iHMD).

The brief answers are that I don't think this has much impact on eMagin, which seems to be approaching an inflection point. I don't think its so easy to build into micro-displays and then there's always questions about IP. eMagin is looking like the clear, and far better, successor to the just introduced models like Occulus, from what I've seen.
As for wet manufacturing, I think the hold up so far has been with process-related stuff, since water and oxygen are lethal to phOLED materials. I've covered this briefly in my Pro OLED articles on SA, and in more detail elsewhere.
Thanks again for great questions!
