Showing the exchange you mentioned Lurker. Don't worry Fellas, Dr. Fan and 3M are going to get those advancements in optics! Jim, you had a bunch of data on Steam's testing of eMagin displays as I recall.

When ti comes to unreleased products a day doesn't go by where I don't read about something VR related that's new and exciting but there are no consumer products or software attached to these numerous experiments. For example, LG's Steam VR headset. However they showed off a nearly finished product to some tech sites and then zipped their lips and disappeared. No prices, release dates, or anything was given. Steam is still pushing the tech forward with their knuckle controllers but even those are developers only atm and going by past precedents may take over a year to come to market (I really hope it doesn't). Sony is out there but if anything their headset and setup is a step back from the Vive/Rift in everything except ergonomics.

Plenty of movement and advancement in the tech and you named some of it. The LG set that you mentioned is going to have higher resolution and is supposed to be out by the end of the year. Wireless is a solved problem today after estimates pegged we wouldn't see it for at least a couple more years. The Windows headsets and others are using tracking that doesn't require an external tracking system. Plenty of advancements in eye tracking has been made and foveated rendering is basically ready to go when that becomes ready. Valve are iterating on the VR controller and rebuilding it completely for more natural control. We've even seen prototypes for solving the focal point problem. This is all for a medium that just released to consumers last year. I'm not seeing stagnation at all except for maybe advancements in optics which is unsurprising.
