eMagin, a leader in OLED microdisplays and virtual imaging technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager with manufacturing background in the East Fishkill, NY manufacturing facility. eMagin integrates high-resolution OLED microdisplays, magnifying optics, and systems technologies to create a virtual image that appears comparable to that of a computer monitor or a large-screen television.
Summary: Perform the engineering project management functions to ensure the successful completion of the company’s upgrade of our manufacturing capabilities. The end to end project includes all stages of equipment purchase and installation; including concept design, front-end engineering, supplier selection, working with suppliers on detailed design and specifications, directing equipment installations, and qualifying of the equipment to run production.
The project manager will apply project management methodologies including, but not limited to, schedule development and management, resource management (internal and external), risk management, stakeholder management, financial and procurement management, contractual compliance, and communication management as required in order to deliver projects within scope, on-time, on-budget, and according to client requirements. US Citizenship is required to carry out the functions of this role per federal guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Applies standard project management practices for project initiation, planning, estimating, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing out in order to deliver projects within scope, on-time, on-budget, and according to client requirements
- Compiles, analyzes, and presents project metrics
- Ensure that project execution (periodic stakeholder reporting, deliverables, invoicing, IP, protection of proprietary data, etc.) is in compliance with customer contracts; in some cases, managing the customer relationship
- Facilitate planning sessions and project reviews while maintaining positive relationships with all team members
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, technicians, managers, and other project stakeholders to achieve project objectives; work with and support engineers, technicians, and engineering managers across multiple disciplines
- Communicate with key stakeholders, clients, project team, and management team
- Engage with customers to explore and understand needs for manufacturing and innovation and nurture relationships with high-potential accounts to develop and prioritize customer development opportunities
- Complete project close-out activities to include documentation of relevant project data in the Project Management Plan (PMP), preparation of documents for archiving, communicating lessons learned to stakeholders, and incorporating lessons learned into processes as appropriate
- Prepare and review complex progress and technical reports; deliver status and summary presentations to customers and stakeholders as is needed and in a timely manner
- Provides input during the proposal development process
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Semiconductor equipment procurement and installation
- Semiconductor process knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and contracting requirements (government contract experience a plus). Proficient knowledge and business application of fundamental project management practices, techniques, and core principles
- Demonstrated leadership capability. Proven success in a team-oriented environment. Drives individual performance and conveys appreciation for individual contributions to collective effort. Ability to coalesce and build consensus among multiple functions including engineering, operations, procurement, quality assurance and finance. Proven adaptability and flexibility as a part of team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Adept at preparing, reviewing and delivering technical reports and presentations. Utilizes judgment in communication styles and behaviors; recognizes impact on other team members
- Demonstrated understanding of project accounting practices and paperwork audit trails
- Functional understanding of engineering disciplines and manufacturing processes
- Exhibits initiative and creativity within assigned project work
- Willingness to travel periodically (10-15%) to customers and conferences
EDUCATION:
- B.S. Business Administration and/or Engineering
- P.M.P. certification is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) or more years’ experience in a project management or equivalent role managing technical projects (e.g. engineering, software, etc.)
- Five (5) or more years’ experience in equipment purchasing, installation, maintenance, and/or qualification in a manufacturing production environment
- Experience managing government programs and projects preferred
- Experience working in a research and development environment is a plus
