In the case of little companies like eMagin and Microvision they must answer a Request for Information (RFI) which has to be approved. Funding flows to get through the Phases that would get that component into the Lab for Testing. Testing is rigorous and they make sure they meet required Military Specifications and can do so on a consistent basis. BTW where does Microvision manufacture these prototypes that are finding their way into the IVAS Soldier Touchpoints?
eMagin has met all Tolerances for use: Submersible, Power Requirements, Humidity, Drop Tests, Lifetime, Performed as described, all of them and that's why they find themselves in over 20 programs of Record in the Defense Budget. Kopin is in a few and Microvision has never submitted a display that Qualified for use in any Program at any time. So you can peddle "Addressing the military market" as "proof" to your fellow, whatever you want to call them.
